Chevy Chase Talks Almost Playing Drums In Steely Dan
Actor Chevy Chase was interviewed for the latest episode of Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast. Part of the retrospective interview touched upon Chase nearly playing drums in Steely Dan.
Chase, who is said to have perfect pitch, befriended Becker and Fagen and played drums in a band with them before they went on to co-found Steely Dan. Fagen, an avid WTF listener, was asked by Maron to give his assessment of Chase, whom he called a “great musician.”

I love Rickie Lee Jones, so this week’s stroll through the catalog of Steely Dan covers was a delight. Here, she covers one of my absolute favorite SD tracks - “Show Biz Kids.”
The song was found on her album of covers It’s Like This, released in 2000. The album is sadly not on Spotify, but YouTube to the rescue.
Have a GREAT day! 😎
